standard fork caps for curvy (99 - 02)

Hi folks,

Anyone got a pair of standard fork caps for a curvy that they don't need please? Got a set of adjustable pre-load ones in from a pointy but find in the cold and wet there's just a bit too much pre-load on even with them wound right out, and the front feels very nervous.

cheers
charlie

cut the spacers in the forks, much cheaper than buying the caps, i think you would need to take about 10mm of maybe even less

Just make some shorter spacers :)

Both good suggestions, but I'm not running any spacers with the adjustable caps. The standard spacer for the WP progressive springs would be 25mm, which is more or less the same as the extra height in the adjustable caps compared to the height of standard caps + spacer. Could always file down the adjuster as much as poss tho I suppose. Cheers.

hmm something doesn't sound right, you sure its pre load thats your problem ? have you got the static sag set ? 25mm - 30mm i think is normal (no rider)

what weight are you ? progressive springs shouldn't be to hard to require no pre load at all

I'll swap those for standard tops :-)

No not entirely sure. Static sag is about 25mm so could do to be a little less for a more forgiving feel in plop conditions. The nervous feeling front end could have been a combination of several things - cold, wet, strong crosswind, cold fork oil, little too much pre-load with adjuster caps in, etc, etc. Only something that I notice when temperature drops. So just gonna experiment until I get something that is easy to swap or change if conditions change between races.

Thick oil feels bloody orrible in cold weather, viscosity increases markedly.

You sure it is a preload issue, and not a rebound issue? Springs don't get stiffer in the cold.
