TRE for a GSX1400?
Hey Peeps,
I have a friend who has a GSX1400 and today he showed me a small black box that he bought that connects somewhere on the side of his bike, that de restricts the 'restricted' power, giving him more bhp??!?! He said that this is on most of the suzuki bike?!?!? Is this true? |
Re: quick question..........
depends what it is havent heard of a 1400 being ''restricted'' though maybe a gsx 1300 hayabusa

Re: quick question..........
I'm not an expert, but that sounds like a Timing Retard Eliminator.
Some bikes limit the power in low gears to prevent accidental wheelies by changing the ignition timing. That little box just tells the ECU that you're in fourth gear all the time so it doesn't retard the ignition. Good - he has access to 100% power in first and second gear now. Bad - he'll have to limit the power himself or end up on his ar$e |
Re: quick question..........
If he wants more power than a GSX1400 produces as standard he must be one fantastic rider. According to one source it is fast so perhaps the next box he is looking at might be made of wood.

Re: TRE for a GSX1400?
Its true, but its a waste of money.
Never seen a dyno that proves any different (on a 14) Better saving the sheckles for a PCIII. They do make a difference even to a standard bike. Plenty of gen here ........ www.gsx1400.org/gsx1400_board/index.php :) |
Re: TRE for a GSX1400?
If you are therefore thinking of getting one for the SV.....don't bother, there are plenty of threads on the subject and they don't give you any benefit (according to people on here).

Maybe it is just illusion because of way it makes its power? |
Re: TRE for a GSX1400?
Best way to improve a GSX1400 is to fit a system and get the ECU remapped or remapped via a PC3.
The ignition retard is so tiny and is only for emmisions/noise. Its not there to stop wheelies LOL |
