Ignoring traffic cones - what's the penalty?
When a filter lane is coned off for non-existent roadworks, what is the penalty for ignoring them?
|
Re: Traffic cones
Does it come under driving without due care?

Hoping to find out, I know it won't exactly make you flavour of the month... but if it's just a fine or something then be reet

I'd expect at least a fine but possibly a driving without due care, or without reasonable consideration for other road users type penalty plus the fine, and a few points. Maybe worse if they wanted to be melodramatic and claim you were endangering road-workers, who of course aren't there "but you didn't know that". |

Re: Traffic cones
I am currently cursing a row of cones that has been put in place to permit contractors to exit a compound they have created for a 14month tunnel dig. there are no road workers or anything else, they have simply split a one way two lane road into our lane and their lane.
queueing traffic from another of their roadworks now backs up into the coned area. At the end of the cones there is a hatched area to say everyone get over to the left and then it opens with the right filter to my work site. So for the past week, I have nipped through the cones, stayed on the right and turned into work. Why when they are the gits who are causing all the road chaos should they have a separate lane to enable them to bypass it when they want to go home. |
