Lock for rear disc
This is my first post on the forum, forgive me if I have posted this on completly the wrong forum. Having just picked up a SV650 K8 i've been sorting out security. When out an about there is a distinct lack of things to lock the bike to, so rather than carry a huge chain around I thought I'd pop a disc lock on the back rotor. I've got an XN15 for the front, but there is no chance this is fitting on the back, has anyone found a decent lock that fits the standard rear disc of the K8. Realise this won't prevent it getting lifted into a van, but should stop someone lifting the front and wheeling away on the back.

Re: Lock for rear disc
Wouldn't a big chain through the back wheel and around the saddle do the job just as well?

Re: Lock for rear disc
This would definatly have the same effect, and probably be more secure than a little disc lock, but I'm not sure I could fit a chain and lock under the seat, has anyone manged to fit a decent cahin and lock in the tiny space under the rear seat, I'm really after portability.

Re: Lock for rear disc
dont know about under seat space on the injected models but on the carbed theres foom under there for a 3 blondes, a jacuzzi and 10 bottles of bollinger.
seriously tho i regularly carry a chain, disc lock and bungees under there and it fits fine. I use a squire chain and lock, I think its about 1-1.5 metres long. Not long enough to go round the seat but it could go through the swingarm and exhaust mount. Best bet is to find a convenient lamp post. |
Re: Lock for rear disc
use both!!
I've got a 1200mm chain and a disc lock. The curvy rear seat storage is impressive like. Almost lost a few things down the seat plastics lol |
Re: Lock for rear disc
if in doubt wrap the chain when riding round the pillion seat so it goes round the whole rear end of the bike.
