What do people make of this....

A thread posted in the bikerforum about baffles and it resulting in burnt out valves and a loss of power? :smt088

On some bikes it can cause a problem if fuelling isn't adjusted. The SV is known to be pretty sympathetic to the change though.

i have never had one for my bike and i would say it takes it pretty well and i havent had it on the dyno but it is def not lacking in power.

My sv650 used to run terrible with both baffle out, and really felt like it was loosing power.

With the small baffle in it ran great and felt better under load.

With both baffles in it was terrible lol

Thats strange. Mine seems to run fine and takin the baffle out makes it effectively look like a straight through pipe if you look down it lol

Not usually an issue so long as you stick with the stock air filter. a free flow zaust on it's own will not normally lean out the mixture enough to make the engine run that hot. If you go down the route of K&N etc then yes, lean running is a possibility and you will most likely need to rejet / remap - this is the whole point of a free flow filter - more air so more fuel can be used, and thus more power.
