Intercoms - Advice

Hey guys,

Looking for your reviews on intercoms. Rider to pillion sound quality over a broad range of speeds is the main thing for us.

Ta.

Don't **** about with a cheap one, get an Autocom or Starcom (now both owned by the same firm). I tired a cheapo one once, hurt my ears and couldn't hear sod all above 40mph.

I have used an Autocom for the last 10 years, on my sv650, sv1000 and Sprint ST1050.

Plug in satnav, MP3, (and phone if you want) - it automatically dips the music when you speak, can still hear music and talk to pillion at 130 even with earplugs in. A great bit of kit.

+1 on the Autocom, mine is on it's third bike after sales service and back up was good, this coupled with the long life of the kit is probably what got them, it is to be hoped that Starcom continue to support the kit.

Autocom is top notch but i hate the speakers, velcro doesnt stay stuck to inside lid.
Im gonna get adaptor leads to use normal earphones.
Very clear though.

Me and Mrs Guru have an Autocom. Really clear even at speed and wearing earplugs.

Would really recommend it.

Sorry for the slight hijack, just wondering if the autocom advice still rings true for bike to bike intercom?

As in using Autocom for bike-to-bike? IME it is just as good as rider-pillion comms, but obviously this is also effected by the transceiver you hook up to the Autocom. I have one of the recommended motorola PMR walkie-talkies and it is good. So I would recommend autocom for bike-bike, yes. autocomm all the way fred.. fitted proper to the helmet its ace.. and new microphones mufflers etc are reasonable ..

but make sure you get the spiral leads sooooo much better.. and hard wire it to a switch live.. battery lasts about 3 hours otherwise. (small battery not yer bike battery)

I've heard "Backchat" is really good, but haven't used it myself!
Got ride best buy some time ago & non electric, dont know if it makes a difference but maybe worth a few mins of your time for a look?
