Scratched fairings under the foot rest area

is it possible to scratch them on a corner???

had pillion t'other day, got very low (foot scraped, peg sharpened!) close to KD but the pillion wasnt hanging off enough..never mind. anyway, where was a very loud scrape (louder than my slider) and i've just noticed... there is a huge scratch where the lower fairing screws in to just past the foot rest... could this have touched the floor? there is no other explanation!

Cheers :(

Here are the pictures. This is the only feasible way that it could have happened, unless someone else has any suggestions?

The lower fairing:

the rear brake:

the peg (yes it has been sharpened lol) :

They all seem to match up with the scratch on the fairing too. And the fact i was aware they where grinding.

Just to mention, it hasn't been scratched there on the other side, even when i had my 30mph spill last November, and never noticed it when i washed it a day or two before the "incident".

So how can you get it over without the bike washing out?

Has the bike been lowered at all?

looks like the weight of rider + pillion was too much for the stock sussies (tho ive never known SV's to 'bottom out' quite that bad... )

scraped my belly pan, gear lever and peg coming into the mountain at cadwell.
suspension is more compressed 2 up so all is nearer to the ground through G forces ;)

On my first trackdays at Pembrey I ran stock rear shock, road pegs and fairing. By the time I got off it, the pegs were ground down to a knife and my fairing had a hole ground right through it!

Eep!

Yep i think the rear suspension needs stiffening up then, as it was pillion too. I tried once and i couldn't do it, next time i have a pillion i will defo try and adjust it.

And i did it by going round corners sharp/fast :P

Thanks for ya help.

Yep, I have to be careful with the VFR 2-up anything above mild cornering will see the main stand deck out.
