Hagon instructions
 

I got my springs and shock but the instructions for the springs aren't clear at all.Does one re-install the Suzuki spacers and is air gap measured in the normal way,i.e.,tubes collapsed and down to top of tube down to oil level?

Good morning.


You set the air gap with the forks fully compressed & held vertically, & with no spring or spacers fitted.

The best way of measuring the gap if you haven't got a level gauge, is to insert a steel rule. Don't try to measure to the top of the oil. Insert the rule say 200mm from the top of the tube, & then subtract the amount of oil on the rule from 200mm. This will give you the measured gap.

Make sure you pump the forks up & down several times after filling them, & let them settle before setting the air gap.

I've done forks lots of times!Morini 350,GS500 and my TDM but relacing springs with a supposedly quality manufacturer and his clear as mud instructions,that's different.They refer to the spacers in such a vague way,do I re-install them or not?They say maybe if the installed new springs protrude above by a certain amount etc.....

Good morning.


Hagon springs are intended to be a direct replacement for the standard ones. More often than not utilising the standard spacers.

On occasion, Hagon supply springs that do away with the spacers all together. It's pretty obvious when this is the case. For the new spring will be roughly the same length as the old spring & the spacer combined.

The question now is air gap,the Hagon box says 120mm and just in the last 5 mins,the man from Hagon told me it should be 110mm,they sent 7,5wt oil also.What have you set them at?My bike is a K5.

I would go with Hagons recommendation. Anywhre between 110 & 120 will be fine. Just get both legs the same:D & use the 7.5wt oil they sent.

7.5 will be short of rebound IMO, unless it is a very heavy 7.5

Thanks all,just went for a spin now after doing the springs and oil,ag to approx 115mm and though not a magic carpet ride on my favourite road but certainly transformed,just like a proper bike feel!Will be putting in the Hagon rear next week and may have more questions for ye again!

I would like to do this, did you use a jack on the bottom of the engine or a headstock stand??
