Removing an electrical spade from a connector?
Hi all,
To cut a long story short i`ve just got another fusebox for my sv650 k4....is there an easy way to disconnect the cables from the prvious box without cutting? Or is it best just to cut and solder to the new one? Thankyou. |
Re: Rewiring
Have a look into the connectors in the box, you'll see that they are retained by a plastic tang. Improvise a tool, mine are made from a variety of things - old screwdrivers ground to a suitable profile or coathanger wire in a suitable handle - and depress the tang, the connector will slide out easily when the tang is suitably held. A much better solution than soldering.

Re: Removing an electrical spade from a connector?
Hi sid,
I see what you mean about the connectors, The ones on the relay side are easy to disconnect, the ones on the fuse side are proving more difficult. Am i correct in thinking that you can only disconnect from the rear? where the cable goes into the fusebox? I`ve never tried anything like this before so any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou. |
Re: Removing an electrical spade from a connector?
I don't recall how the tangs fix on the fuse board - sometimes a close examination is necessary before it becomes clear.
