Yesterday after a bit of riding i noticed there was like a burning/hot smell from the front of the bike. as i was sitting on the bike at traffic lights i could smell it.
it smells like the brakes are hot or maybe the clutch is burning. am i mad?????? |
Re: smells like the clutch or the brakes are hot
Was it raining? won't be clutch, clutch is inside oil.
Normal burning smell you get is rainwater on pipes. Otherwise it could well be brakes, or wiring. |

Just carefully touch the calipers after a few miles and see if they are hot,or one is hot and the other isnt.

Re: smells like the clutch or the brakes are hot
Hot pipes / engine + water = Steam!
The bike will hold on to water long after it's stopped raining, and will drip and splash water onto the engine and exhaust as you ride. If the bike is definitely 100% dry, then it could be electrical or brakes as mentioned. Electrical burning smells...different though, it's like burning Bakelite or plastic. |
