Holiday well deserved and long overdue.. but where to go?..
 

Hello All

Kate & I have finally decided that come rain or shine we will go on proper holiday this year :cool: We have been together for close on 3 years now but due to various reasons (mainly financial) we have not yet gone on proper holiday (AR doesn't count ;)). As our families are all back in Poland, we usually have to spend most of our holiday entitlement and budget on trips to Poland for Xmas/Easter, etc. so that our parents don't disinherit us ;) But as we spend all our time there travelling between Kate's parents, my parents and our friends you can hardly classify that as rest & relax..

Due to lack of proper rest and plethora of problems we have had over the last couple of years (work, accidents, money)we are slowly approaching mental breakdown and if don't get some proper R&R in the sunshine we will surely break down and reach a state akin to Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" ;)

Although we both travelled quite a bit, in my case mainly for work, ( bl**dy Poles: stealing people's jobs all around the world ;)) we hardly have any experience holidaying abroad ( I've only been on a proper holiday once in my life - 4 years ago in Crete). Hence I thought I would ask the lovely folk on here for some advice on where to go, how to book, what is best value, etc.

The guidelines for us are:
- we would like to go for 7-10 days some time in September
- we want it to be a beach type holiday, so temperatures in the range of 25-40
- we normally like to do quite a lot of exploring/sightseeing wherever we go, but this time the focus is on REST & RELAX though we wouldn't say no to some sightseeing
- we would prefer an all-inclusive package
- the budget would be between £350-450 / person (the less the better :))
- at the moment we are considering Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco and the Canary Islands
- not really interested in the Greek Islands

Any suggestions/bits of knowledge on the subject will be highly appreciated!

Off to Turkey in late July, paid around 350 per person, but that's bed & breakfast for a fortnight.

Will update on how we get on if I remember :rolleyes:

We chose Turkey because it's outside the Euro, possibly a bit cheaper?!

look at spain you'll get a good hotel and area for that money
plus weather is good, we are just back from majorcia and then mainland spain (plus i have my own place there) so if you want more info just ask
give yc and myc a shout they went out just before me for a unbais veiw on spain as a whole

I was told that Turkish are very hospitable and you tend to get quite well pampered in their resorts, hence the attraction for us
As for the currency, all depends how well Turkish economy is doing in relation to the UK's, e.g. Poland's outside of the Euro zone but try going there this year and you'll find that your hard earned £s will not get you half as far as they used to..
Spain's a possibility for me but Kate would prefer to go somewhere else as she went there when she was younger. Any advice on what the best areas in Spain in September are?

I must admit I'm a bit worried about that..

id say costa blanca, lovely beaches, salt rich water (ive a great pic of me floating in the sea with a beer in one hand and a cig in other) there are also plenty of nature reserves, mountain ranges, and entertainment available all over ,eg cinima, shows,karting, water skis, hang gliding, wine tasting, basicly something for everyone
look for some where south of benidorm towards alacante -torreviejia-san javier-cartagena

almost all company's are doing a free rebook if you are messed about by the ash cloud so id not be to concerned
