Non starting curvy - not turning over.

My 2000 sv has been fine but the starting has started becoming a problem. the electric start button doesnt seem to be working now, it was fine then it would only start from the button when it felt like which is very frustrating, now its not having any of it and just does nothing when you press it. no noise no nothing. the bike starts fine if you bump it etc but not on the button. all the lights are working fine, ive taken the tank off to get to the wires and they all seem fine. a bit stumped now, any ideas?!

no i dont think so, i did change clutch levers after my friend sat on mine and it snapped, dont think it would have affected it though?

the small switch can get worn out and not make contact properly, bypass this with a small paperclip to confirm
check all loom connectors too for corrosion, WD40 to clean them up.

Check all usual suspects.Is the battery fully charged and properly connected?Check all other relevant connections and bypass idiot switches like clutch/sidestand.Kill switch?
