Remotes for electronic gates?
So I'm a bit of a pickle and wouldn't mind some org help:-)
Basically I'm at uni in London and go home weekends. Either way, I need a place to securely keep my bikes at least in the weekend & holidays as I usually take the train home to Milton Keynes as its easier and quicker. It's also useful for whenever I need to do stuff to my bike plus keeps it away from bad weather, etc. Anyway, my mate at uni has a flat which has an underground parking lot. He's nice enough to let me use it, as next to his spot is the wall, which pefectly fits my bike (and also my damaged SV that has been sitting their lonely since August :-(). So far all I had to do was copy his key to the gate, but I just went to park my bike there now for the weekend to see the key part had been removed, and there was a sign saying remote devices have been sent to each flat. So I'm a bit screwed obviously as my mate needs his remote device. I was just wondering if anybody knew wether it works on infra-red and if there is a reliable way of somehow copying that into a remote device of your own? I used to own one of those TV remote control watches back in the day and remember they had some sort of function which allowed them to register infra-red sources and essentially copy them. Thanks for the help. My bike just asking to be nicked being left all alone chained up to a lamp post in the street all weekend in central london:(. |
Re: Remotes for electronic gates?
you could try the learn function on a multi media remote controller if it is infra-red it should work

Re: Remotes for electronic gates?
likely story, you come on here asking how to obtain illegal entry into locked garages, very fishy. ;)

Re: Remotes for electronic gates?
It won't be infra-red. It will be radio frequency. Get that guy off gone in 60 seconds to find the right frequency for you ;)

Re: Remotes for electronic gates?
Get your mate to tell whoever provides the keys that he's lost his remote... they'll give him another one, might have to pay though

Re: Remotes for electronic gates?
^ was thinking that but they wouldn't they change the frequency for security reasons
