Superduke due a service.

Not that fussed on oil but Mr KTM says fully Synthetic, so rather than my normal semi, who clued up on the brands ?

Busters are doing Castrol GP1 power1 for £29.99 or SILKOLENE COMP4 for £35.99 both with free filter, any good ?

Cheers Mark.

I've used my KTM on silkolene for the past 5 years with no problems

Mark, Hein Gericke were selling their branded FS 10/50 4 litres for 22 quid. Supposedly Motul oil inside. But no free filter.

Yeah I know Pete, as testified by the 3 containers of their semi in my basement, I've use it a lot, but never the fully synthetic, have you ?

Is it really worth saving a tenner and not getting the recommended Motorex?

I've no idea, hence the original question.....

Even my highly tuned hand built 152bhp T5 engine runs fine on the HG semi, however given this motor is 10 years newer in development terms perhaps it's of more importance.

Cheers Mark.

Yep, used it a couple of times in the Duke, but I'm running 15/50 now as it was using a bit of oil after the re-build. That was using Motul 10/40 I hasten to add.

Problem with something like oil is you never know until tens of thousands of miles later whether it was any good. I personally would have been happy to use HG stuff if they did a 15/50. My new stuff costs over 50 quid for 4 litres.:(

Don't know about the Silkolene but my FZ6 did drink quite a bit of Castrol in between services. Did not happen when I switched to a semi-synth Motul. Had similar problems with Castrol oils when I used to drive cars. I was told by quite a few people that Castrol oils tend to have really good cleaning properties, too god in fact which meant they would cause leaks and/or oil consumption.. Mind you, I know close to nothing about engines (as you well know) so please feel free to disregard my comments :)

Pete,
I've been to my local HG last week and noticed they had the 5100 15w50 semi Motul on the shelf. I didn't ask about the price though :/

Cheers Dyz, but our baby requires fully synthetic. :(
