rust under the front suspension dust seal
Ive just noticed rust bubbling up through the dust seals on the front suspension forks. One side is moist the other is dry so looks like fluid leakage. What kind of cost is it to fix? And is it replacement time or can they just be fixed?
Thanks |
Re: rust under the front suspension dust seal
Lift the dust seals, clean out with brake cleaner and recheck before you worry too much.....could just be water causing the circlip on top of the oil seal to rust a bit.....

Re: rust under the front suspension dust seal
I just went through two sets of forks. They all had a brown like gunk, looks similar to rust. The only rust in the entire assembly came from the snap ring.

I'm beginning to feel the quality discrepencies between my blade and the suzuki. I thought my fazer was bad but the sv is practically water soluble!
Still the ride and gearbox make up for it's sins. |

Trouble is, if it's second hand, you don't know how the previous owner looked after it. Or not.
