Has your bike ever blown over?
Ive had 2 bikes blow over when the bike was covered but 'touch wood' never had a bike blow over when not covered.
First was a piaggio 125 scoot and 2nd was a fazer 600. Twisted bars and cosmetic damage on both occasions. I now ratchet strap the bike to a 2nd ground anchor when covering up to prevent blowing over but dont bother when not covered. So what i want to know is has anyone experienced a bike blowing over when not covered? |

Nope, never had one blown over with or without a cover
Scoots are always prone to blowing over though as they're so light |
Re: has your bike ever blown over
Yup - my old Bandit 600 did, and that's not a light bike.
Washing the bike one particularly sunny, yet windy afternoon, and being on the side of a small valley, the top of the driveway is quite exposed. Walked into the garage to get something, turned round to see my pride and joy upright, off it's sidestand, and heading to the floor on it's other side. Run to grab the bike, and managed to grab the other side of the tank and one of the rear grab handles, but at this point it's too late, and the bike pulls me down with it, and the concluding mass of flab and bike makes it look like a picasso masterpiece. Has only happened once though in the 8 years I've had bikes/ scooters. |

I had a faired SV that blew over in heavy wind, was parked at my workplace with no cover on it.

125 with cover on. Just make sure the cover isn't too big and turns in to a nice big sail.

Re: has your bike ever blown over
In gales many years ago my Speedfight was taken off its center stand. Didn't do any damage though as the cable lock was attached to a hand rail at my parents house preventing it from hitting the floor. I soon solved the lack of damage problem by dropping it reversing out of the driveway a couple of weeks later.

Re: has your bike ever blown over
I did a track day at Anglesey last year and on the hairpin on the last session, there was a massive gust of wind that took the bike right over and me with it.
It was nothing to do with cold tyres or cornering too fast....honest ;) |
