Medical Insurance - Biker cover?
Well I say medial, I mean travel insurance. Anyone got any companies? Filled out 4 forms so far only to find none of the mofos cover motorcycles above 125cc.
Descrimination shown in full. They all fealt my wrath of a phonecall :smt076 Sure I can be covered in a 200+mph supercar, but woooooahhhh anything over 125cc on a bike. Scumbags. Anyone got any recommendations? |
Re: Medical Insurance - Biker cover?
I am with BUPA travel insurance and they cover over 125cc if you hold the appropriate licence and wear a helmet. The policy wording is exactly the same as whoever I used on my last euro-trip, which was the AA IIRC, so I suspect it is the same underwriter.
I get BUPA travel through work as an optional benefit and it costs me £48 a year for 12 months multi-trip cover. I have used insure and go in the past (http://www.insureandgo.com/) but you MUST phone and pay for an extension to the policy to cover over 125cc. This was competitive three years ago, but not two years ago. HTH |
Re: Medical Insurance - Biker cover?
I am using Insure And Go but I had to pay an extra tenner to get bike cover. I got bored of phoning around, it costs more to keep calling all these companies.

Re: Medical Insurance - Biker cover?
Something to note:
There is a difference between cover for "incidental" use and actually taking a biking holiday Incidental might be a case of "hey, let's rent a pair of scooters and see the next town" If you're riding your bike every day or it's your actual means of transport you will not be covered unless the policy says something like you are covered for "non-incidental" use There was a guy in Ouazazatte who found out the hard way after his crash that his insurance had refused to cover his medical bills. Thankfully it was only £600 or so, god knows how screwed he'd have been if he'd needed to have been repatriated I went with Carole Nash in the end, not massively more expensive than others (about £40) but they were the only company that would confirm I'd be covered riding my bike, for the entire holiday, including the off-road sections while we were in Morocco... |
