A round of applause for Decathlon
Whilst camping at Lissa & Binky's rideout revenge, in the peak district last year, I had a bit of interferance with my head and the main pole of my tent.
The result was two bent sections of the pole and a snapped conector. Not a lot, probably repairable, but I thought I would phone them to see if they sell replacements. The customer care line got me in touch with a young man on the camping section of my local store in seconds. I described to him what I wanted and he said they would porbable be able to get the poles, but he needed to speak to some one else. I left my number. A few days latter, after no phone call, I popped down to the shop one night to chase this up. I spoke to a different lad who showed me the item that I wanted at a cost of 17.99. He asked if I had a reciept as he may be able to exchange it, if it was in the last two years. Of course, no reciept. He said he would speak to another man, maybe the same as before, and get him to ring me. He asked when I would need it for and I said this friday coming, and then went on my merry way again, awaiting another phone call. No call again, went to the shop again today and spoke to the same lad. He had a few discusions with the the man in repairs but could not come up with a suitable repair. He then went down to the tents, opened a bag, gave me the poles and that was that. Brand new poles, no cost, job jobbed. Thank you young man in Decathlon:smt038 The tent is now erected in the garden as I type. |

He did take the tent off the shelf and ordered a new set of poles for it while I was there. |
Re: A round of applause for Decathlon
Some of the lads in these shops work there because they love the sports, so when they see a real enthusiast they will go the extra bit to help out. Maybe he thought you were nice so he helped because that made his day go better, after a day of scumbag customers.
