Rome - Mrs B's 50th
 

Stunning!

Been visiting Italy for about 25yrs but this was our first visit to the capital. Done Pompeii, and numerous other sites. Done the beach holidays, and beer holidays.

Rome in the flesh was a 100 times better than what you may have seen on the tv. Nearly every corner you turn has something mindblowing to see - mild embelishment.

The down side of the trip. 3 hours late into Rome, and the restaurant and buffet car was bust, along with the aircon. Too many locals trying to rip you off, e.g. 35Euro for a 1.5 mile taxi ride. Then yesterday afternoon we get informed that the train to Paris won't be running till late Friday courtesy of a French railway workers strike but "don't worry we can get you on a coach, 36hrs to Paris and hopefully Eurostar will be running on Friday." After a lot of "discussion" we bought tickets from Rome to Gatwick with Easyjet. The flight was 2 hrs late thanks to a French air traffic controllers strike.

And will Citalia ever get a booking off us again? They even rang our travel agents here in the UK and got them to book our flights with our CC details we had to give them over the phone.

But did Mrs B love her 50th birthday hols or what?!?
