Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
Hi everyone.
My horn has decided to pack up. If anyone has one for sale please let me know. Cheers!:D |
Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
Is it never working or does it work just sometimes?
I had some problems with mine in the past, but sorted it out by moving the horn to a different place. Being behind the radiator, it seems the heat can affect it... sometimes. |

Stiebel Natilus is even better but would need a relay to wire in. The stock one is pants |
Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
It used to work fine but started working intermittently once the engine was hot. Now it has stopped working all together. I have tested the switch and have 12v on the end of the wires even when the engine is hot so i think its completely knackered now.

stiebel magnum is direct replacement, about £14 off the shelf at halfwits.
i have one from my curvy, but the naked pointy has the horn behind the radiator, where is the horn on the faired bike? |
Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
Hi, mine is the bikini fairing version, the horn is the same as the naked and located behind the radiator.

Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
Horn has a small bolt on it's back. Someone told me that bolt should regulate the gap between the membrane and... whatever... (I wish my English was better and I wish I knew something about horns too... :-?)
Anyway, after trying to solve things turning that bolt I decided to move the horn to another location, just in case, and hadn't had a problem since. |

it seems Yamaha R6's are direct swap... and maybe they don't overheat like our's ??? |
Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
i'm gonna make a longer ally bracket, to drop it down below the rad and bolt my magnum to it
|
Re: Horn unit wanted for 2005 Pointy
Thanks for the replies, I take it the magnum wont fit behind the rad? I will have a look at the R6 horn if its a direct swop. If not it might be just as easy to buy the aftermarket one and make a bracket or just relocate to behind the headlight fairing. At least that way it wont be near the heat of the engine and also will be protected from the rain.
