Am i turning into a grumpy old man?

Ok the other day they have decided to cover the road near me with bitumin and gravel to resurface the road. All fine and good you would think but after going out to get some petrol i found they havnt rollered it at all (despite having 2 steamrollers on site) so im trying to ride through up to an inch in chippings (in places) and its already worn through to the original surface in places.

So i phoned the council and said look its not a complaint but if were paying for a job doing lets get them doing it right because its a bit shoddy.

And i got accused of being a grumpy old man :( Yea i can understand it but am i in the wrong/worrying about it too much?

I know the feeling, people keep accusing me of being a grumpy old man.

Especially the wife and kids

I think that's a terrible way to talk to you if that's the words they used, paying your council tax gives you the right, nay, the duty, to imform them of any shortcomings and be dealt with respectfully. If they'd said that to me, I'd be asking for the boss.

I talked to my council yesterday as some nasty youths have broken the toddler swings in the park and my boy can't use them :( They were very helpful and grateful for the info and are despatching a maintenance team :)

You still got them Vipers??
Just go out and roll em over it.....then you got some more tread!!

I once went down Tod and over Littleborough on my new set of Storms, didn't know they were resurfacing the road....came back with one mahooooooosive extra contact patch down the middle, took me ages to get rid of it too!

No ta :-).
I'll be putting Storm Ultras on the Raptor. Not enough people waving the praises towards the roadsmarts, one Raptor member hated them on his, and others have had the Storms on and have been very pleased. Have to be careful what I have on that thing, might turn messy!

Diz Road smarts are the mutts! from a self confessed hater of going out in the rain. they stick!!!
anyway
Andy - get back onto them and complain- I've just phoned our roads for the same thing and left huge patches of gravel on the road. Most guys don't think about PTW's. I ghet called obessed but i do work with them. you are a resident and you have the right to complain and be spoken to in a civilised and non-abusive way ( yes its abuse). YOu ain't worrying your highlighting a shoddy job that could result in a comp claim if they don't sort it out - which could be very costly!

Exact same thing here, although the person I spoke to was rather nice and said that I was not the only one to complain. In my Crescent we are the youngest family and i'm 40! :-)

If they actually said you were a gumpy old man, I would be putting in a formal complaint. I would also be reminding them how costly a claim might be if you happened to have an accident as a result of their shoddy workmanship!!
