Labor charge estimate tyre, chain and sprockets?
What is the likely rough labor charge for replacing a rear tyre, chain and sprockets? Cant do tyres myself, last time i did it i swore never to do it again lol, and i havent got a riveter. So might as well get the garage to do it all.
Thanks. |
Re: Labor charge estimate tyre, chain and sprockets?
Tyres are difficult to do unless you have a bead breaker set and levers and they will still need balancing afterward so its worth taking your rear wheel off yourself and taking it down there for the £10 it will cost to get it done.
Chain and sprockets are easy enough. Using a bit of wood wedged between the rear wheel crack the front sprocket off, quick angle grinder to the chain, rear wheel off take that down to the tyre fitters and changing the rear sprocket is a 2 minute job. Repeat in reverse order to achieve the desired effect. :-) |
Re: Labor charge estimate tyre, chain and sprockets?
Yeah ive done them before used a second motorcycles stand to break the bead, not got a second bike anymore . So thats £18 im going to have to pay anyway, then theres the few £ rivetting cost.
You have just reminded me i have a new angle grider i bought last summer. Should make getting the chain off easier this time round. Ill see what mood im when the parts arrive. |
Re: Labor charge estimate tyre, chain and sprockets?
Pardon my potentialy daft question but what does riveting have to do with a rear tyre change?

Re: Labor charge estimate tyre, chain and sprockets?
i think he needs the riveter for the new chain rather than the rear wheel.
