Employee Perks/Benefits...

Just got in from a second interview for a new job.

Got asked a strange question...

What "perks" would I like/expect.

Examples, Pension Scheme, Health Care.

So anyone else got some ideas.

Either real ones of funny ideas - go for it, what can I ask for?

parking space, delivered lunch, gym membership, employee share scheme.. try and get cover for your partner too.

I think you have to declare these on the p11d and maybe taxed accordingly.

I find it surprising, people talk about parking as a perk. Without it most people would be unable to work. I know one of our sites suggested charging staff for the use of car parks and once the resulting strike ended that silly was never mentioned again.

However, not perks as such, more but rewards for all :-

share option schemes, these reward loyal service.
Subsidised gym membership, healthy employees take less time sick
private health insurance, sickly employees when ill get priority fixed.
home broadband, so you can get into work systems even when away from work.
mobile phone, if acceptable use policy is reasonable you will be inclined to carry the work phone out of hours.
Free brewing, encourages "networking" within the business
flexible working patterns, encourage work at times of need and given back when the work is slack.
clothing allowance. If I am required to wear a suit, they should provide.

Perks :-
company car. For me it is still a better option than running my own.
Approving your own expenses.

We get:

Pension
Life assurance cover of 4 times salary, plus spouse's pension of one third of salary
Health care (including on site physiotherapist)
Employee share scheme
Subsidised gym membership (currently £7 a month)
Bus service (from various nearby tube stations)
Discounts when buying from various companies (including Apple!)
Dedicated motorbike parking areas
IAM membership
Subsidised (supposedly) canteen
Free coffee machines
Free Sky HD
Free home broadband
Free home phonecalls

Probably some others that I've forgotten too.

Perks what perks!!!!!!!!!

I get none of the above as I'm a public servant, I'd be under a disciplinary if I accepted anything other than a free calender at the begining of the year.

So sorry Soulkiss I can't help you here, but a good pension or healthcare is something worth having
