Ever been stuck in between two friends?
 

And no I don't mean in a sexual kind of sandwich way, so calm yourselves all you pervs ;)

You see, I have two friends. (only 2, aww I hear you say :-P) One I know a lot better than the other but I've still known them both for the same number of years. They were very close up until Easter. Then because of a single event that kicked stuff off, they have been ignoring each other and things have been generally awkward for the rest of us who are having to witness these two being torn apart.

Now normally I wouldn't bother posting something like this on here but today, I had to witness a huge arguement as all the tension that has built up over the last couple of months came to light. I was caught in the middle, couldn't leave either and had to see it. It's greatly upsetting, I like both these friends but they're so bloody strong-willed they won't back down and see that they should just be civil for everyone else's sake.

Aaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Thank goodness I'm off to a different part of the country tomorrow for the weekend to spend my time messing about with birds so I don't have to think about it :(

grab both, one in left hand one in right hand , and bash both heads together!!!!! they are supposed to be friends. tell them to suck it up and get along.

failing that is there no way you can get all parties together and try and mediate between them and see what the real problems are and see if you can help?

failing that, find new friends, these ones sound way too much work!

I have spent much of my life perpetually caught on the fence between social groups, and having each side bitching out the other to me. TBH it's not really your place to get involved in their spat, and likewise they have no right to tell you to take a side either.

Just let them settle it themselves.

I tell you what's worse!! Being stuck between an 'ex' drug addict son/colleague and his parents/my boss. Pain in the ****!!!

Yeah, two of my best friends hated each other, lasted for about 6 years then they talked again and get on fine now.

Head bashing...no not yours :-).

Suppose it depends if ones being more awkward than the other over whatever it is thats going on. Pigheaded, strong willed people are a pain in the ass, sure they do it on purpose(in fact I know some do), speaking from experience, takes one to know one and all that ;-).

If you don't get them to patch it up, one or the other will end up being so upset, but neither will back down to the other to give chance to patch it up. Its likely one would be more than happy to, but hazard a guess the other won't, just to be awkward, or thinking its just best that way.

Get em together, preferably in a place neither can leave, preferably lock em in until they've sorted it out. They'll argue like hell on earth, but eventually will kiss n make up, given a chance, or the right time and place.

If DB's plan doesn't work throw in two pairs of boxing gloves, lock the door and give them a choice. Settle their differences amicably or fight until only one is left standing.

Wait outside with a baseball bat, and if only one is left standing beat the cr*p out of them for what they did to their friend...

Why don't you call them separately just before you go, tell them that their behaviour is boring and puerile asnd say how great it would be if they had made it up by the time you get back. Blessed are the peacemakers...
