morning engine stalling
This morning again I rode about 60m from my house and the engine cut out whilst I was going along in third gear. This has happened a few times now and each time has been first thing in the morning. Is this likely to be because it was not warmed up before I left? I did leave the choke on for a minute or so beforehand and it wasn't exactly that cold this morning.

Re: morning engine stalling
stalling when idling can be caused by the idle speed being to low. What is the idle speed RPM set at ?
|
Re: morning engine stalling
Not a clue! It stalls whilst I am going along though not when idle and it only seems to do it in the morning just after it has been started up for the first time that day.

Re: morning engine stalling
What should the idle speed RPM be set at then?
|
Re: morning engine stalling
I have mine idling at around 1200RPM,
But I think anywhere up to about 1500RPM is acceptable |
Re: morning engine stalling
I had this on my pointy and my mate had it on his Firestorm each time we adjusted the idle speed and the problem went. Should be in the manual for ideal speed. around 1300 to 1500 i think. Other may suggest otherwise

Re: morning engine stalling
Believe 1300 is the haynes figure.

Re: morning engine stalling
Cheers guys. Will take a look in the manual later. Is it easy to change? Still makes me wonder why this only happens first thing in the morning tho

Re: morning engine stalling
Check the idle speed when the engine is warm.

Re: morning engine stalling
On the pointy its a turn of a screw, on the ugly i should imagine its the twiddle of a knob. In the morning fresh I think this would be more the case but see how you get on it may not be the problem at all.
:???: Oh and like above let the engine warm up first. |
