Keeping bike idle for 5 and a half weeks

I'm going to India next week for 5 and a half weeks and was wondering if there is anything I should do with the bike whilst it is laid up at my parents' house. I will probably disconnect the battery and get my dad to charge it just before I get home.

If possible leave it on an Optimate

Other than that I wouldn't do anything, my KTM can go a month or more without being used and it's fine...

If its left outside then put a cover on it.

if no alarm, you shouldn't need to do anything... as long as the battery is in good condition

optimate, fs 365 or acf 50 sprayed to inhibit rust, full tank of fuel to stop the tank rotting.

Ideally on a front and rear paddock stand to reduce the risk the tires egging (and up the pressures)

5 or six weeks shouldnt be a problem mate! My hayabusa would sit for months doing nothing and then would suddenly be called upon for full duty! The battery would be the biggest concern, so either keep it on trickle or disconnect it. More important will be to check it over before you set off for tyre pressures etc!

Enjoy the trip!

Isn't it going to run out of petrol if you leaving it idling for 5 months. Bet the neighbours will be pleased when it does though!

Cheers for the advice guys. It's only 5 weeks unfortunately Stu, not 5 months!

Just lit my K2 up after 12 weeks - a bit slow to fire, but no dramas. Original battery btw
