Quick Horn Question
 

Evening all, horn has given up on my curvy so having a quick look on ebay. Found two, neither are bike specific, ones 6v, ones 12v. Now this may be a stupid question but whats the difference and would either work on my Curvy :confused:

The difference is 6 volts ;)

You want 12v. The current drawn is relevant too. The standard weedy horn draws very little. If you're looking for something louder it will draw more current and you'll need to wire in a relay or you'll blow fuses (at best).

so is standard 6v or 12v?? sorry relays and electrics in general confuse me!!

Standard is 12v. But voltage is not the whole story. The power is made up of voltage and current. The stock horn I believe draws less than 5A. A "universal" air horn replacement could be 20A or more.

There's all sorts on ebay. If you're looking at something that looks like the stock item, is 12v, and not advertised as extremely loud, then you should be fine. If you're looking at sticking on a couple of airhorns you'll need to do some wiring.

Stebel horn for the win in my opinion , wiring is easily done and it is awesome to blast people who cut you up ....... they soon know about it lol

Are you sure your horn has had it? Tried a disconnecting the contacts squirting with WD and cleaning 'em up a bit?, Sometimes just wobbling the contacts whilst depressing the button will bring forth a starngled horn back from the dead! It's lack of use you know!:D

I also moved mine from behind the radiator because every time it got hot, it stopped working. It is now mounted on the bottom yoke with a new wire and a nice stainless steel bolt.
