Clutch switch bypassing - the real truth?

For reasons that don't need to be gone into in this thread (I want this to be focused on the issue of the bypass), I am possibly going to need to bypass my clutch switch.

Now, I've heard that on a curvy it's not a problem - but on pointies there seems to be varying opinion.
Does it cause any issue if you bypass the clutch swith by simply joining the wires in the perch?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. On that there is no dissent. You will lose revs and power.

The dissent is about how to avoid this:
-I believe that if you cut the wire from the perch to the ECU, after splicing at the perch, the ECU will never know the difference, but the bike will start because the connection to the starter relay has been spliced.

-Others believe the ECU remembers if the clutch has been pulled or not, and if it hasn't seen this event, it goes to the restricted state. In that case, the way around is to rig a relay triggered by the starter button, so that effectively pressing the starter sends a "clutch in" signal to the ECU.

On a GSXR 04+, you definitely need to do this. SV wiring is different.

Why do you want to bypass a safety cut out switch?

I'm with matts my last bike had no clutch switch and it nearly propelled me into a parked car on the starter

its a fail safe to stop the engine and box being lunched if its in gear

Because they're a pain in the f*cking tits whose only purpose is to leave you stranded somewhere either a) cold or b) rough.

You will only try and start it in gear once anyway.

My honda has no clutch switch but can not be started in gear without it pulled in either. (best of both worlds)
Also the ECU thinks the bike is in neutral as your telling the ecu that the clutch is pulled in permenently so it doesn't run right.
