Idle problem.
Hi all,
I'm supposed to be riding 240 miles down to the london area tomorrow morning. I went to check the bike over to make sure it was ready to go and noticed the idle speed was too high. I started to turn the adjusting screw but nothing was happening, then i noticed that the cable that runs off the back of the idle screw itself has become disconnected at the engine end! The bike is kept in an underground carpark and there isnt enough light to see where it is supposed to connect and not enough room or time to get the tank off to have a look. Is it safe to ride it without the idle cable connected? (It'll be sorted when I get down there) Thanks |
Re: HELP! Idle problem
a couple of hundred rpm won't be a problem

Re: HELP! Idle problem
Thanks for the reply. So riding it with the idle cable disconnected will be ok? It's only about 200rpm too high, so not too worried about that for the time being.
It revs ok, but I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to damage or upset anything by not having it connected? |
Re: Idle problem.
Good morning all.
If the engine is idling too high with the cable disconnected, it points to a problem elsewhere. Possibly an air leak. In that case I wouldn't be inclined to ride it a long distance. As, there is a small chance of causing a greater problem. Cheers. |
