Toolkit - Is it worth arguing about
 

My bike was advertised as with toolkit.

Got it home, looked under the pillion seat - nothing.

Took off the main rider seat - nothing.

Did a bit of research, found the stupid box between the shock and rear wheel with the pull pin - empty.

My question is - Should I ring the dealer and give them some hassle? I've heard something about the toolkit not being worth much, soft metal etc. etc. Now I want to hassle them because it was advertised, but if it's going to get me carp then I might not bother.

If not, any recommendations for something that will fit into the same space?

They will just take one from another bike so you may as well ask. It is handy to have

I've only ever used one of the Allen keys for tightening up a wing mirror bolt. One side tends to come loose now and again as I have to fold them in to get the bike through the back gate. It's handy if you're out and about, but I guess you could carry a multi tool instead. I'd ask for it as you'll want it there if you come to sell the bike on.

The only thing worth having is the original spark plug spanner.

Didn't even look at mine before throwing it in the junk bin so I'd have to take others word for it that the plug wrench is useful.

I wouldn't worry about it and build my own with quality tools that actually reflect the needs of the bike. It might even be useful for city folk to leave the toolbox empty except for an AA card.

Personally I'd be miffed.
You effectively paid for it, so it should be there, even if it is poor quality.

At least if you go back and get it, then if you decide to chuck in the bin, you made that decision.

I would want it, although not the best quality, there is something of use in there in an emergency repair when you are away from your home tool kit.

It's not absolutely vital, it's just a long plug socket - but hinged, so you can get it in behind the radiator easily. Worth having.

Yup, the toolkit is all made out of finest philllieedelffia softest cheese, although useful enough to get you out of a hole.

On the other hand you could have a certain Italian bike with no toolkit under the seat, and all the bolts needed to remove its horns and certain plastics are torx heads, which is damn inconvenient when you need to change an air filter and lift the tank to solve a drain hole blockage.
