Curvy - Unrestricted carb slides and mystery parts - indentification please.
3 Attachment(s)
I am reading the restriction guide for the curvy models here (in anticipation of doing it a year and a half down the line ).
Now, looking at the guide it appears to be a simple swap of the carb pistons. 5a shows you how to access the pistons by removing the cover, removing the diaphragm then 5b illustrates removing the jet needle, and swapping the pistons over (which seems relatively straight forward). Looking at the pistons that the Suzuki garage gave me back (which was good of them as I have seen some stories on here where the garages do not give them back and the individual is charged for new pistons :() and mine has an extra washer in the packet . Take a look at the attached picture but I do not understand where this one should situate as it is no where in the guide. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |

That's a spacer that goes under the needle clip inside the carb slide, (what you've referred to as 'piston').

Look at this page.
The setup on the Yank bikes, (which that fiche picture is), ever-so-slightly different - which is why the part number is different - but the spacer in question is No12 in that picture. Zoom in and it's in about the middle at the bottom. HTH |

Thanks Sid. Excuse the incorrect terminology . So, in the guide what is the best picture to illustrate against, to best describe where it goes (I'm still a little confused :)#-o).
It will probably seem easier once I've disassembled the carbs. But I'm just curious :). |

I don't have the guide you refer to so I can't help there*. But the part in question is in the same place as No12 in that picture. As said the setup is a little different but the sequence of parts is, as I recall, the same.
I'm fairly sure I remember it right - I knew what the spacer was as soon as I saw it - so I think my recollection is good enough**. *Perhaps you could scan it and post it up, or maybe find it online if you have the part number and link to it? **Which, frankly, is a surprise - anyone who knows me will relate how dreadful my memory is. |

Haha no problems, hopefully you'll be floating around on these forums when I come to do it :-)
Thanks a lot for your advice mate! |
