MOT - Front wheel removal ?

In an MOT do they remove the front wheel ? because mine is a pain in the ass to remove and has some small spacers (not got round to getting them remade so they are easier to get on and off) the axle is also a bit of a pain to remove(very very secure).

Thanks

I 'thought' they just lifted it off the ground and spun to check bearings etc...

Although, someone in the know will be along. Why not just phone your tester and ask/explain.

I stayed and watched my last MOT and he didn't take the wheel off.

I would have been very surprised if he had.

My tester gets me lift my my bike on the side stand whilst he checks bearings etc. rule no 1 of any MOT, they are not allowed to remove anything, even if they suspect it is hiding something for which a failure should issued.

Re: MOT - Front wheel removal ?

That depends what it is. On a motorcycle MOT they are allowed to remove panels and covers that can easily be removed without the use of workshop tools.

This would cover side panels and pillion seats etc using clips, one that pull off or use the key.
It can also cover fork gaiters to see if seals are leaking.

It must be done so that nothing will be damaged, or involve the use of tools, or an extra key the customer didnt leave with them.

But as said, NO front wheel does not need removing for MOT

cool thats good, hopefully the front wheel dust seals will have beaded in so the wheel spins a bit more freely than it does now, has new bearings so should be ok :)

I watched someone have their MOT done on their bike.
The tester never even touched the bike, not once, he glanced at the speedo to record the mileage and then we all had a good chat :)

He was in Rugby too ;)
