Tech advice wanted: How to record TV to HDD or Computer?

Can anyone recommend a way of recording from my virgin box, into a format where I can stick it on the computer - I've got a mac so no tv capture cards.. Failing that, can anyone recommend a decent & cost effective HDD recorder which can capture from scart?

We have the LG HDD recorder.
you can record from TV, video camera and anything with scart, phono or co-ax output.
You can edit etc and write to DVD's that can be played on other recorders or computers.

I got one with no tuner.
These must be cheaper now as most would want tuner built in so you can record a different channel from TV

I have one of these for my mac:

Having had many TV cards before, trust me this one is great. Never skips, crashes, no audio-synch problems and it has good software. Many cards are utter ****e.

I just open the program guide, click on the programs I want to record and leave it to it. Once done I click on one button and it compresses them and puts the on my Ipod through I tunes. Easy :)
