Daz, you will have to pay duty on it, that wont get through.
You'll pay import duty, then VAT on the lot :(

Each product has a different Duty rating and I don;t know what it is foir motorbike parts. For fishing gear its 6%

So you'll pay (for example) 6% on the amount thats declared on the invoice plus shipping and VAT on the total.

Try and get them to send it via usps (their equivalent to royal mail) I had a whole mountain bike sent over in two packages years ago with success a few years back. I've also had stuff sent over by ups / dhl and both had duty paid by the courier as they do that on your behalf and then you get a bill from them afterwards.

ask for it to be declared as a warranty replacement part I'm sure its exempt from charges

Make a friend in the USA, get it posted to them. Get them to open it, re wrap it with shiny paper and a bow and send it on. You then have yourself a second hand tax free gift

I bought an arrow can for my brutale a couple of years ago. Knobby in the US declared it with a value of $500 and I ended up paying £160 for UPS shipping and £90 for the duty ( including £17 admin fee for them working it out)

Defo worth while having a friend out there!

Sometimes they won't catch it for duty, but you're probably looking at paying about an extra 20% or so from my experience.

Also sometimes they will catch you even if you mark it as a gift to try and get it through, worth bearing in mind.

Don't forget to remove the invoice.
A b-day card is a nice touch as well.

Don't ask me how I know. :-dd
