Re: ooopps

Dave *crasher* preston has it.

Went up to hartside with him today, happened on the RH hairpin at the bottom of the final rn to the caf.

He thinks he decked the pegs and it oofed him off. He deffinately decked them once it was down. He was trying to prove a point as I kept loosing him on the bck roads to Slaidburn then the bridge and finally up to Kirkby Stephen;)

I got cought up in the traffic he managed to catch at the right time so couldn't push on. As I was heading up, came round the right hand hairpin further down, saw him belting up towards that one and thought, bugger, I won't hear the end of this. Followed an R1 up then spotted a bike down and Lee stood next to it.

A couple of lads stopped, the R1 I was following and another on the way down.

Damage appears to be:
RHS fairing scuffed
Rearset bent (think it's the section that fastens to the frame)
RHS peg ground down
Rear brake pedal end snapped off.
Can dinged (thankfully at base and may polish out)
RHS front indi
Crash bobbins did a reasonable job as it just slid.
Leathers slightly scuffed, the kevlar/fabric stretch panal needs replacing really, is partly worn where it meets the leathers.
Visor scratched. A tiny (and I mean tiny) scuff on the chin bar where the visor closes, no other damage to it so looks like it stayed off the deck.

tbh, he has the stock sets so could be back on the road in a day if he doesn't mind the battered look.

Most importantly PRIDE.

Although respect to Lee as we rode back to Bolton. Maybe the best thing. He'll probably post tomorrow when he's sober (last starting on the whiskey)

We were up at the caf, and I was saying at least he didn't do it up here, when a load of sportsbikes turn up. Next thing, engine screams and we all look round to see a pillion rolling off and a bike on it's side. Didn't look too close, but it was pretty new. Almost took out one of the others as well.

Of course, whilst he went off shaking and trying to light a fag (took about 10 mins) I took some sneaky pics.

In my defence, at this point both you and the R1 were dust:-dd

Gary its these helmets, im changin mine too

seriously though, today was an eye opener, thats the first off ive ever had, it was at a fairly slow speed (luckily) as the corner was a hairpin, unfortunately i 'overcooked' it coming into the corner and just leant over way too far, the bike decked out and then slid out from underneath me, it all happened a bit fast, just a reminder that things can go wrong, iv learnt from it and hopefully it wont happen again

the bike just has cosmetic damage as ste has pointed out, nothing that cant be fixed
as for me, im fine, was a bit shaken at first but just wanted to get straight back on the bike, my protective gear did all the right things, all i have to show is a funny shaped bruise on my leg, so just goes to show ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LEATHERS

best thing is i finally got my knee down, been wantin to do that for ages, just not followed by my face;)

Hey it lives, how much did you drink then?

I wouldn't bother fixing it too much though Lee, it looks good with the battle scars, now the black fairing blends with the tank a bit more.

After today though I'm looking at getting some bungs for mine. Thankfully, after the 'playing' we were doing earlier in the day it happened going slow. Although that bloke on the black bike nearly had me on the way down cutting the corner like that.

The Guy on the R1 was a right male chicken.
It was good of him to stop though, I pulled up. Lee had the bike up so I wheeled it off the road a little and whilst we're looking over the damage to both Lee and the bike. He decides to lecture me about why he managed to go past (as I was about to overtake a car I may add) further back. Time and place mate, time and place.

So anyway Lee, when are we getting this thing back on the road? Should only take a couple of hours.
