Bloomin Mobile Speed Cameras!

Think I just got done on the A38 from Minworth to BP.

Anyone know how long it generally takes for tickets from these?

Not moaning if I've been done, because I know what speed I was doing, but I hate this have I / haven't I waiting game.

Anyone know if West Mids are offering speed awareness courses rather than points?

If you haven't received your NIP in 14 days (+- a few) then you are in the clear.

I'm going to get in trouble for this...

Essentially the NIP needs to be issued within 14 days for it to be valid.

Change "issued" to "posted" and you're there.

Sorry but this is not the case for first class post, though it was always believed to have worked like this. At a case last year Gidden vs Chief Constable of Humberside it was ruled that a NIP which was posted two days after the offence but which arrived 16 days after the offence was invalid, since it fell outside of the 14 day window. BBC report here, and (very large) PistonHeads thread here.

I think it was established that this does not apply for recorded delivery, only standard mail.

How can it be issued if not posted? :p Besides, technically it is 'served'

The BBC article is slightly vague on what I think may be the relevant details. The Act itself says

If the plod knowingly stuck it in the post during a strike, I suspect the courts may view that differently to the post just being a bit carp. Maybe one of the org legal bods can clarify their personal understanding.
