Makes a big difference at speed. I have one (not sure what make) that I took off the bike at the end of the winter, it'll be going back on soon. It makes quite a difference to wind chill on your chest, head bobbiness, and outer layer of your gear water saturation. Definitely worth using through the bad months.

There's plenty of debates as to which is best - hand guards, muffs etc. I find the DL650/V-Strom hand guards are well worth the money and look passable too.

Mines an airblade bubble screen, http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/...ghlight=022820 does its job well by moving the wind off my chest area but does give me a bit more wind noise around my head. you can get taller screens though.
Got it brand new off ebay last year for £20 :D That fabbri one in yc's post is a good screen too.
