Bike written off

So i posted on here at the start of this month that my bike had been stolen, well i got the bike back and it went off the the insurance company or more correctly to a place down south called 4th dimension.

They called me today to say they will be writing the bike off as a total loss as the cosmetic damage repairs would cost more than the value of the bike. They have already fixed the ignition however and it runs fine again now...

They have given me a value of £2000, thats for a 53 plate burnt orange fully faired 650s, that sound ok? i really don't know as i've never had to pay for one lol

Also i asked about getting retention of the bike, they said i can have it back for 800 quid as a cat d write off. That sounds like a fair price? i think?

They guy told me SV's get writen off for the slightest bit of a thing... is that true?

Mines an 07 plate Cat D - Absolutly nothing wrong with it CAt D means you dont even need to inform anyone once its repaired, just make it road legal (tax MOT etc) and you're all sorted. If it runs, ride it :D
£2000 seems quite good tbh.

£800 might be worth it so you've got £1200 for a gsxr front end and then street fighter it ;) drink the rest of the money or put it back in to the bike as petrol.

where does £1200 come from? Surely it's either £800 to pay for your bike back, or they give you £2000?

the insurance company is paying out £2000 for the claim but they would take the bike.
if you buy it back they deduct the charge for the bike in this case £800
you keep the bike and they send you a balance of £1200.
i think £800 seems a bit steep but i have only bought back a car and that was 20/25% of the payout.either way your still on a winner.good result

They give you your bike and the 1200, less the excess of course.

Depends what the cosmetic damage was and that there are no structural damage as well.

Also depends why the bike was stolen. If to break up for spares, should be OK, but if by 'joy-riders', then it's likely the engine is ruined.
