A Revs problem
 

Basically, I have been riding my bike fine for the last couple of weeks and suddenly today, it has an issue where the revs would shoot down and back up and even just stay down on 0 with the engine still running. It happens when i open it out a bit, the bike jumps and revs fly around.

Any ideas how to fix this?

is it effecting the bike or just clocks

Yeah its effecting Acceleration and making the bike shuddle Forward a little its not nice.

Its basically, when i open it out to 5k revs, its coughs a little at me, and revs shoot down and often off.

id clean and balance carbs, id also check for water in the tank to see if thats the intail issue

Yeah okay, For someone who's to sure on this sort of thing is there anything on Google that can teach me how to do such a thing?

Get a manual, there might be a link on www.sv650.org/faqs
Case of lifting the tank (remove seat and side panels first then two bolts at front of tank) then removing the airbox (couple of clamps) and carbs (unhooking stuff +undoing clamps). Then unnassembling them and cleaning them out.
If you do take them out to clean them make sure you put them back on firmly.

Does the choke cable operate smoothly? Does the warmth of the engine seem to correlate with the wackiness of revs?

It is obviously electrical issue since it is affecting the rev counter.

The rev counter takes its feed of electrical signals from the front coil.

A coil breaking down can often mean the loss of ignition to one cylinder giving power loss, lumpy running and popping back through pipe.
