Don't need a tacho, but I'm not sure about the speedo. However, I could see you picking up points quite quickly without a speedo :D

It's not illegal to not have a speedo assuming the vehicle was never fitted with one in the first place. If it does have a speedo, it's a legal requirement it works correctly.

Okay, sorry let me get this right - So if the clocks arn't present on the bike, it can't be illegal?
Or is it illegal on the SV because they once had clocks from the factory therefore should have them fitted and working.

Thats correct the sv needs a speedo because when Suzuki made it they have to give detailed design specks to the DVLA on a form of conformity for use in the UK.
If you wanted to alter this by removing the clocks you would need to alter the design on another form for this particular bike and have a vic check done to make sure it complies. It would then be a bike in its own right, just like a kit car really.

When I trashed the clocks on my SV, for a period of time I had a pushbike speedo on it. Totally legal even though I couldn't see it at night. The law does not state it has to have illumination.
