Which year did Curvy cylinders change colour?
I've got a 99 bike here with black cylinders and an 03 curvy with silver cylinders. When did they change and is the colour change the only change in there?
I belive they changed the Oil pick up on later models but what else changed? are all curvy engine parts interchangeable? Cheers, C |
Re: Which year did Curvy cylinders change colour?
I believe K1 was the colour change
http://www.sv650.org/model_history_f...el_history.htm IIRC there was some extra sump baffling retro-fitted to '99 bikes and fitted as standard to 2000+ bikes due to issues with the oil moving excessively which could lead to the oil pick up sucking on air even if you weren't pulling wheelies. All parts should be interchangeable. Jambo |

Carl my 2000 has black cylinders - IIRC 2001 was the colour change - the recall for oil problems was 99 - 2000 onwards should have been modified as standard

aye the duff oil pick up only involved around 500 bikes.

Now then,
I have a 2000 with a graphite/black like engine. Its not black black. And a 2001 with a silver. |
Re: Which year did Curvy cylinders change colour?
The engine colours changed during 2000-1 about when the pearlescent yellow was changed for the slightly more 'custard' yellow. Have seen a few 'Y' reg bikes in the these colours. My '99 SY was one of the recalled bikes, was told the oil pump bit was changed back to the previous type after a race engine had blown in the U.S.A.
