What A Tw@!!! - But at least nothing really bad happened!
officially done the most stupid thing this morning!!
And i am not proud of it at all!! and feel i need to name and shame myself!!! go up, got ready, uncovered bike, started bike, got lid on, noticed some smoke coming out from right side of faring, investigated a while, decided that it was crud on the down pipes burning off,Sat on bike, selected first pulled away, got no more than 1ft forward, massive BANG! bike shuddered to a stop, and dropped to the left! Somehow i managed to get my leg down and save it from going all the way! but how....i have no idea, she is a dam heavy old bike!! Managed to snap the wing mirror off in the process!!! sheared the bold clean through! not sure how....but very annoying on its own! but at least the bike didn't hit the floor! managed to struggle the bike back up and put back on stand!! First thing going through mind was that the smoke was electrical and something was going wrong!! no idea what.....but then i thort about it, carb fed bike etc etc, it couldn't be!! So i picked up the wing mirror!! walked back into house with head down and dropped it off.. This time i pulled away my feet were firmly walking along the road incase same thing happened! then.........BANG!!!! shudder!!!! stop and started falling.....this time caught it fine! WTF could it be!!! then it hit me.........DISK LOCK!!!!! What an absolute TW@! How could i forget that! i was a little concerned when i got the lock that it didn't have a lanyard, but i decided only a complete idiot would leave it on!!! at least i know it works now though!! :) although now a quick technical question for you, the calliper taking a big old thump like that, should i be looking for any signs of damage in particular? or should it be ok? the breaks felt absolutely fine this morning on the ride to work, but wasn't giving it a handful! |

Ha, I bet nearly everyone on here has done something similair at some point, I certainly have, but only pushing the bike. The other day I sat on the drive for a good 5 minutes wondering why it kept conking out when I put it into gear. Oh yeah the sidestand is still down.

:stupid::winner:
The most i've ever done is wonder why the bike wouldnt start when the bike was in gear with the sidestand down... not been that stupid on the SV yet though, and i dont leave a disk lock on mine all the time, no point where it gets parked all night. |
Re: What A Tw@!!! - But at least nothing really bad happened!
Done that more than once doh! so got a disk lock reminder cable. Tried all day once to start bike and ended up calling out my brother a day later who pointed at the big red kill switch and told me what it does...:rolleyes:
