What diameter tubing do I need for bleeding brakes?

Hi all

Going to pick up some brake fluid and tubing to bleed/overhaul my brakes at the weekend (depening on weather and time).

Forgot to look in the manual to see what mm tubing I need, anyone know off the top of their head?

Cheers

I use the tubing Halfords sell for windscreen wiper fluid.

It's a bit on the tight side and needs dipping in a mug of hot water before it'll go on.

No... only function of the tube is to keep brake fluid from spilling which will happen anyway.

Reason for that is if you try and use jar and tube as an air non return valve then it will suck air in around the edge of nipple.

Open nipple... squeeze brake... close nipple... release brake.
Repeat this process until leaving the nipple closed and applying brakes results in a firm lever.

What is the best way to drain old fluid out completely though?

I thought that opening the nipple and squeezing the lever makes the fluid come out of the nipple. If I didnt have a tube attached to it, wouldnt it just go all over the floor?

I thought you were overhauling them? In which case you will have ended up wearing all the fluid from popping the pistons out :-P

Yeah, I want to, as I dont think they've ever been done!

Just checked BBC weather though, and its heavy rain for the Saturday, but dry on Sunday. I'm hoping to have enough time to at least bleed them on Sunday in between entertaining the kids :) The front is really iffy at the moment, spongy and the pressure at the pads "seem" to vary at any given rate of braking. Can be a bit grabby.
