Which GSXR front end for Pointy?
Hi guys and gals
I'm new here and am looking for some advice. I was looking to do a front end conversion on my 2004 Sv 650s, with gsxr forks, brakes etc. However I'm not sure which year and spec gsxr I need to source the parts from. Also would this converstion require any modication to the speedometer? if so what parts would i need to complete this also. I would also appeciate any opinions as to how this conversion would compare to say fitting progressive springs and changing fork oils, as my set-up is completly standard at the moment. Many thanks Kirk |

Re: Which GSXR front end for Pointy?
You can use a Hall effect pickup on the front wheel and magnets, often in the disc buttons, to drive the speedo.
Despite the fact that some have described this as a messy solution to the problem, if you take the slightest time and effort it can be perfectly well hidden. I have made a bracket to place the pickup inside the mudguard and thus it looks very neat. A far better solution than messing about with speedo drives on the rear wheel and the other horrendous lash ups I've seen done. |

I thought progressives were the best thing ever until I got my front end fettled.

Re: Which GSXR front end for Pointy?
Use the search facility on here and look for threads with 20+ posts in them. Using that in conjunction with the gregoryli link should tell you everything you need to know about what bits fit with what.
Take your time, read everything, re-read everything and then once you get the bits sorted, you'll be able to get loads of help on here with specific questions. |

Re: Which GSXR front end for Pointy?
Take your time reading through it all and draw up a list of bits you need/think will work. Then ask on here about anything you're not sure about. From my experience, you have to get really immersed in it to understand what you're doing and what bits will fit with what. After that, it's dead easy to put together. Preparation is the key!
