Rear suspension sloshing noise
Probably a really stupid question but here goes. I got a oem 8k second hand rear shock to replace my 40k one the other day and noticed a liquid sloshing noise when i tipped it back and forth (kind of like the sound you would hear if you did the same with a can of soup!) So is it normal to hear a sound like that, before i put it on the bike and find its knackered.

Re: Rear suspension sloshing noise
Is that with the shock upright or on its side ?

Re: Rear suspension sloshing noise
took my old one off the other week, didnt notice any sloshing, might go and give it a shake in a mo :D
Edit: just been in the shed and give mine a good shake!! ooooer!! and yeah sloshing noise. cant tell if mines knackered, rides alright, but im a lightweight and it felt alright to me. |
Re: Rear suspension sloshing noise
Nope, that noise aint good.
I got the same when I took mine off to swap it for a ZX10 shock. I thought it was water that got past whatever seal is on the thing. Mine was useless by the time I took it off. |
Re: Rear suspension sloshing noise
its the oil in the shock, it will move about, just like in front forks, my k3 shock (stock) does that as well

Re: Rear suspension sloshing noise
yup just the oil, if it sounds thin like water, that could be a problem lol although there's no telling because it wouldn't surprise me if suzuki used water like oil in there suspenders
