FOR SALE: 1998 GSX-R 750 SRAD Black/Silver £1700 ono 22,000 miles, lots of service history

You are looking at my 1998 GSX-R 750 SRAD in Black with Silver Styling and Yellow Lettering . For a 12 year old bike it’s in great condition, but obviously its showroom posing days are behind it. In terms of mechanical condition it’s fantastic. This is the first of the fuel injected models..

Overlooking ramsey on the isle of man earlier this year

Completely standard bike other than:

· HEL braided lines (fitted by me as the standard rubber brake lines were still on the bike from 12 years ago when it was manufactured)
· EBC Sintered HH pads (around 4,000 miles covered)
· EBC Wavy Discs (again fitted by me, have covered about 5,000 miles, plenty of life left)
· K&N air filter fitted by previous owner
· A previous owner has changed the headlight at somepoint – the one fitted give the bulbs a very slight ‘halide’ tint (not iridium or neon, it’s very subtle, see pics)
· R&G crash bungs in black

Good bits

· 0-60 in around 3 and a half seconds
· 130-ish BHP
· standard bike in original colours (no silly re-spray paint schemes, mini indicators or stupid mirrors here)
· LOADS OF HISTORY – stacks of receipts for services & parts over the years, every single MOT and a service log which I created when I first got the bike (see attached pics)
· Michelin Pilot Road 2’s are less than half worn (the ones with the stickier dual compound rubber on the shoulder of the tyre – absolutely amazing rubber! – just under 2,000 miles since fitted – will be good til around 6,000 if the previous Michelin Pilot Road’s were anything to go by)
· EBC HH Sintered brake pads are less than half worn (have covered around 4,000 miles)
· EBC Wavy Discs have thousands of miles left (have covered around 5,000 miles so far)
· Chain and sprockets are absolutely fine
· The suspension has had some kind of black magic performed on it at some point in it’s 12 year life - it handles like nothing I’ve ever imagined on two wheels (test ride required to see what I’m talking about)
· All original parts with the bike (pillion seat, pillion pegs, seat hump etc.)
· Mechanically sound, very well looked after
· MOT til June 2011
· Tax runs out at end of November 2010 but will happily stick another 6 months on it if you want to ride the bike away (at cost to buyer)
· Recently had new super dooper bright bulbs fitted
· Sailed through it’s last MOT – no problems from any bearings/brakes/horn/lighting etc.
· Never ridden through winter (whilst in my care) so no serious corrosion or rotting anywhere

Bad bits

· For a 12 year old bike, it's not exactly showroom condition with one or two minor marks here and there...
· The bike has never been dropped whilst in my care
· the standard can has a slight scuff (pics included)
· The bike has had 7 previous owners so I’m the 8th – this sounds a lot but considering the bike will be 13 it’s the equivalent of the bike changing hands roughly every 18 months…

I think that’s everything – all in all there aren’t any serious bad bits to this bike, and the pro’s far outweigh the cons. To give you an idea of what the bike has been upto this year, have a read of my history below…

History
I bought the bike in March of this year when it was at 13,000 miles. When I first bought it (from davepreston on here and sv forums) I gave the bike a once over: oil, oil filter, cleaned k&n filter, flushed coolant and replaced with putoline ready mix coolant, new sparkplugs, fresh brake fluid front and rear.

After a few weeks I decided the front brakes could do with some attention. I acquired a set of 4-pot calipers from a gsx-r 1100(M) and HEL braided brake lines. A puncture in the rear tyre in April saw a new set of Michelin Pilot Road’s on the front and rear which then covered 6,500 miles and were replaced in August this year with a set of Pilot Road 2’s (the ones with the sticky dual compound rubber on the shoulders of the tyres – absolutely fantastic tyres!). These have covered around 2,000 miles with around 4,000 left. I recently flushed the brake fluid with fresh stuff to sharpen the brakes up slightly.

Since then the bike has had oil changes approximately every 2500-3000 miles and new oil filter every other oil change.

This has been the first bike I’ve ever truly loved. In 8 months I’ve covered 9,000 miles of pure love (Isle of Man twice, Scotland twice, North Wales once, South Wales once, countless trips around the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales, as well as 2 x Trackdays at Cadwell Park where it was 2nd or 3rd fastest in the novice group – see pics below).

With the addition of a renntec rack, oxford sports panniers and some ratchet straps, it has been a great touring bike accommodating all my camping gear and luggage, has led some legendary rideouts for the Pennine massive section of the sv650 forum, has allowed me to learn about how proper sportsbikes should handle and allowed me to learn how to get my kneedown on the above mentioned trackdays…

The reason I’m selling is because I’m buying KTM adventure. This is a phenomenal bike which can make you feel like a superbike rider when you string a series of corners together smoothly - or - cry like a little girl when you mess it up and make the split second choice between stuffing it into a hedge or looking through the corner and leaning it over a tiny bit more whilst hoping for the best.

It has gotten to the point where I have to charge around at silly speeds to put a smile on my face – if I carry on with this style of riding I’ll probably lose my licence or my legs. With the adventure, I'll also be able to get my missus on the back with some decent hard luggage.

Although this is a standard bike, I'm also selling (seperately) the many, many extra’s which go with it. These include:

· Yoshimura RS-3 Race can (sounds like hell ripping in half - currently fitted to the bike)
· A set of stainless steel downpipes (akrapovic as far as I can surmise from the demontweeks receipt in the service history pack)
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...s720/photo.JPG
· A brembo master 19x20 cylinder (still have original MC)
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...s720/photo.JPG
· Non-branded machined rear-sets (still have originals)
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/S_...sets%20003.jpg
· Tinted/clear screen (tinted fitted to the bike)
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...s512/photo.JPG
· Original headlight
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...s720/photo.JPG
· Renntec rack with appropriate bolts to fit to the bike
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...s512/photo.JPG
· Oxford sport panniers with rubber grip matt thingy (the big expandable ones – see pic below)
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_c5nU_S1VtbY/TM...2/IMG_0983.jpg
· Abba superbike stand with appropriate adapters...

If you would like to purchase the bike and all the extra's as one job lots, I'll happily accept £2000 all in. The brembo master cylinder was £130, Yoshimura can was £70, downpipes were £205 new, rentec was £30 from ebay, abba stand was £65 and adapters £18, rearsets were £99 - all of which comes to over £600 but can be yours for £300 on top of the price of the bike...

The bike is based in York, North Yorkshire. Viewing is encouraged and test rides are welcome as long as you leave the full asking price in cash in my hand, you’re licensed to ride such a bike and your own insurance covers you to ride the bike legally on the road.

If you crash it, get pulled for riding like a twonk, it’s all at your own risk. As always the bike is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to withdraw from sale. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me or call my mobile 07876 507335. I work on conferences and events so if I don’t answer straight away, please leave a message saying it’s about the GSX-R on ebay, and I will get back to you. I’m also happy to respond to txt messages as long as it won’t take all day to explain about the throttle bodies being balanced and the brake bleeding process…

If your Nigerian, Canadian, or Moroccan brother wants the bike collecting by courier and you want to pay by western union, unfortunately you’ll have pay cash and collect the bike like everyone else.
[PRICE=£1700]ono ono - I will take some proper close up pics of the bike when I get home tonight... Thanks in advance, paul w

Didn't meet the reserve at £1050 so it has been relisted with lower reserve of £1499 but will consider an org discount if anyone on here is interested - this bike HAS TO GO. :)
