Engine oil on chain?

I have searched but could not find.I have just run out of chain wax and need to lube the chain.I have some engine oil(unused) i think its part synthetic 10w40 from halfords(cant find the bottle)
Will this be fine for the chain, does it make a difference what type of engine oil it is.

Thanks again guys

It will be fine but engine oil doesn't stay on there for long

Someone put me onto using chainsaw oil, you get a massive tub for £5 and it doesn't fling off like standard oil does, apply some with a brush to your chain.
