Chain slack for pie lovers?

Is the 20-30mm chain slack recommended in the manual based on the weight of the average wafer-thin Japanese racing snake, or does it take into account the worst case, NFL defensive linebacker, type scenario?

I am probably close to 18 stone fully kitted up (I am 6'2", so it could be worse, or at least thats what I tell myself), should I err towards the 30mm, or more? Or is my weight probably taking the chain beyond its tightest point and back to slack again?

Standard (most probably very tired) shock on a '99 naked by the way.

Cheers for your thoughts, Jez.

the chain should be slack enough for any rider no matter what the weight. its to do with how much it has to move because of the suspension/swingarm travel. so the recommended slack is that because the clever engineers at suzuki worked out how much it needs so your chain dont snap.

better being a little to slack than to tight.
