Quick home brew quezzie
I've found an unopened drum of Young's yeast, but the date on it is 1 May 2010. Will it be any good?
It's only £1.15 to replace but it means a trip into town (10 miles), parking and all the Christmas Eve traffic. |
Re: Quick home brew quezzie
should be,
make up a small solution of it and see if it froths up. |
Re: Quick home brew quezzie
What are you brewing?
If it's a cheap set of ingredients, then give it a go. If not, don't. If it's for cider, you will get best reults with champagne yeast. Pete ;) |
Re: Quick home brew quezzie
I decided to go and buy some more anyway as I didn't want my brew ruined. Making some IPA, from a Brewmaker kit - not quite at the separate ingredients stage yet!!! Wasn't a wasted trip though as when I was there I remembered that I wanted - no, needed - a few other goodies. Have never used champagne yeast for cider - only ever for sparkling wine. I use Youngs general purpose yeast for cider usually but I'll go back to the brew shop when it's nearly done and give it a go:D
