How do Asda do it?

I am amazed, my local butcher is shut and I/wife felt like a full English to run the day right so off to Asda up the road.

Right just cooked/ate. How do Asda do it?

I am aware of "wafer thin ham", that meat subsitute of no content or substance pretending to be ham. But

Wafer thin bacon, translucent and so full of water, it is like tissue paper (with the same consistency) surely they should be done under the trades description acts for calling it "Bacon"?

Give it time they are planning on opening 10 large store and 20-30 small store ever year for the next 3 years

I do agree with TW that the larger supermarkets pedal some duff food at times. Low price = low quality.

Mrs Jabba has taken to shopping at Waitrose and I did have some initial reservations over cost. However, I was wrong. Stick to a budget and it works.

Asda own food i wouldn't give to a dog it's horrid.

I find Morrisons to be about the best in the value for money scale but if it's on offer at Waitrose/Marks + Spencer then why not but i've found local butchers who are awesome and do hot food too which always means i am a fat git.

There is a Panorama program on iplayer at the moment on the rise of the big supermarkets and some of the practices they are adopting in the race for cheaper food and market penetration. Haven't had a chance to watch it myself yet.

Asda bacon is crap! We've been using the local butchers for years and pretty much buy all our meat from them.
